2012-05-14 / GeneralOn Friday, 11 May 2012, at the international agricultural and food industry exhibition “AgroBalt 2012” representatives of the State Food and Veterinary Service met with the representative of the European Commission Health and Consumer Affairs Directorate General (DG SANCO) Tim Gumbel. The meeting was also attended by the staffs of the Ministry of Agriculture and Attaché for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Issues at the Permanent Representation of Lithuania to the European Union Žilvinas Ilevičius.

2012-05-11 / GeneralOn 9-10 May 2012, a meeting of the heads of the Nordic and Baltic countries food and veterinary laboratories was held at the National Food and Veterinary Risk Assessment Institute. It was attended by the managers and professionals from the Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, Sweden, Latvia and Estonia food and veterinary laboratories.

Over a hundred students expressed wish to participate in this project inform themselves with some of the professions. 2012-04-26 / GeneralApril 23rd, Agriculture Minister Kazys Starkevičius, the State Food and Veterinary Service Director John Milius, the U.S. ambassador to the Republic of Lithuania Žygimantas Pavilionis met with the U.S. Department of Agriculture Deputy Secretary of State, international cooperation in supervising, Michael T. Scuse, the U.S. Department of Agriculture Food Safety and Inspection Service official in charge of international relations, Andreas Keller, and other staff. This is the first such bilateral high-level meeting, so all participants breathed easier when the first excitement of official formalities ended, and the meeting became a warm, friendly, constructive conversation.
